If a specific page on a website doesn't load for some reason or if a link is not functioning, the website visitor shall see an error page with some generic message. The page shall have nothing in common with the rest of the Internet site, which can make the visitor leave your Internet site. A solution in cases like this is a feature offered by some website hosting service providers - the option to set your own customized error pages that shall have identical layout as your site and which may contain any images or text which you want dependent upon the specific error. There are 4 well-known errors which could take place and they involve the following so-called HTTP status codes - 400, when your web browser sends a bad request to the web server and it can't be processed; 401, if you are supposed to log in to see some webpage, but you have not done so yet; 403, if you do not have an authorization to view a certain page; and 404, in case a link that you have clicked leads to a file which doesn't exist. In all of these situations, website visitors will be able to see your personalized content instead of a generic error page.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

You can set up personalized error pages for each of your websites effortlessly if you use any of our cloud packages. This could be done via the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, provided with all accounts and when you go there, you could set your customized pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You need to upload the files to your account in advance and input the links to them through the process. This feature can be de-activated anytime and the options you shall be able to to choose from are a standard page from our system or a default Apache server page. Tailor-made error pages could be set with an .htaccess file as well. The file should be put in the domain or subdomain folder and it must contain some system code and links to the pages. Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All semi-dedicated hosting that we supply support custom made error pages and it shall not take more than several mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to input the links to the custom-made files via basic drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Of course, you should upload them to your account before that. If you do not need to employ this feature at some point, you will be able to deactivate it just as quickly and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable when your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you can also use an .htaccess file to permit the custom error pages.
